January 2008We got a great start to 2008. A highlight of the month was a visit from Aunt Beth & Uncle Matt -- as always, our time together was too short, but gobs of fun. This visit was puntuated by sewing lessons (Beth teaching Jeni), trips to the fabric store, a lovely afternoon at the tea room, and football (we'll leave you to guess which activities were predominantly -- OK, only -- attended by the girls or guys). Juliana was back to school after Christmas break, and the report at her parent-teacher conference at the end of the month was very positive -- her teachers called her a "lovely little lady", with many varied interests. Juliana loves sight-reading from the books Nana got her from Christmas, and she's thoroughly enjoying her weekly "Dressed-Up Dancers" class. Sarah continues her quest to become the world's strongest baby. She started army-crawling before her five-month birthday, she can sit with her arms propping herself up, and by the end of the month, she was doing "baby planks" -- holding her entire body up between her hands and toes (unfortunately, we don't have a picture of this yet). Needless to say, she refuses to be swaddled anymore, and routinely does acrobatics all over her crib, getting herself into all sorts of precarious positions that unfortunately typically require middle-of-the-night parental intervention. At the very end of the month, she ventured into the world of solid food, starting with some yummy bananas. On a final note, with paparazza Mommy back at work, we are continually incredibly grateful for the family and friends from whom we can steal pictures on a regular basis, to fill out our album. Thank you! |
